General Information About
Bazil
-
Call
Ahead Seating
During our most busy hours (Fridays & Saturdays 6pm-8pm) you may
want to call us about an hour
or so in advance of your arrival to have your name placed on our wait
sheet so when you do arrive you won’t have to wait an hour for for a table. Just check in at the front desk when you arrive
and tell the receptionist that you called ahead.
-
Reservations
You can call us anytime to make reservations. For reservations
of 7 or more on Fridays, Saturdays and Holidays between 5:30pm -
8:00pm we must have you speak with a manager prior to confirming the
reservation. On Fridays, Saturdays and certain Holidays our
reservations often book up quickly, however we always leave a certain allotment
of tables for our walk in customers. You may use our Call Ahead
Seating during those times.
-
All
you can eat!
Most of our dinner entrees are “all you can eat” which means
exactly that. When your done with your plate, your server will bring
you more, until you can’t eat any more. Also, all of our dinner
entrees include all you can eat house salad and breadsticks. The point
is, you don’t leave Bazil hungry, we guarantee it!
-
The
Funnel Cake Dessert
We suggest that somehow you strive to save room for the carnival style
funnel cake. It’s a piping hot fresh carnival style funnel cake
generously topped with caramel, chocolate chips, confectionary sugar,
a scoop of real vanilla bean ice cream, whipped cream and cherry
garnish. If you come to Bazil and not try a funnel cake, you may as
well not have come in at all...
-
The
Pasta Sauce
Bazil shares the same recipe as the Mario’s Via
Abruzzi Marinara Pasta Sauce that’s now available at Wegmans and
other supermarkets. If you look closely, you will see the Bazil logo
just above the Mario’s Via Abruzzi logo. Now you can enjoy Bazil at
home or send it to a loved one at school.

Family
History
Family owners Mario
& Flora Daniele were both born from the same hometown of
Castelnouvo, Italy (population of 204) located near the city of
L'Aquila in the Region of Abruzzi, Italy. Flora moved to the
United States when she was only eight years old with her mother Regina
Gasbarre, her sister Gabriella and brother Frank Gasbarre. Mario
came to Canada while on an Italian Military Air Force Training mission
when he was 18 and ended up living in Windsor, Canada. Later
that year Mario met Flora at a wedding reception in Rochester.
Being that they were coincidentally from the same hometown they spoke
for hours and fell instantly in love. Mario & Flora were
married one year later and had two sons Anthony and Danny Daniele.
Mario
& Flora opened their first pizzeria "Mario's" in
Detroit, MI where they spent four years working before moving to
Rochester, NY. In Rochester they opened the "Carriage Stop
Restaurant" in Henrietta. Shortly after, they opened
another pizzeria called "Mario's Pizzeria" on Monroe Avenue
in Pittsford where they saved enough money to open the legendary
"Mario's Pizza & Pasta" on East Avenue in Rochester.
After 16 successful years on East Avenue saving money, Mario went on
to purchase land and construct his dream restaurant featuring his very
own hometown classic cuisine and service of Abruzzi, Italy. In
July of 1995 "Mario's Via Abruzzi" opened for business
(www.Marioit.com) serving
Rochester's finest authentic Italian cuisine, where Mario himself will
now tell you... "At Mario's you're not just a customer, you are
my special guest." Five years later Mario, along with
his two sons Anthony & Danny, created a casual restaurant concept
called "Bazil - A Casual Italian Kitchen". Bazil
opened for business in March of 2002 and has since become another
successful and popular restaurant in Rochester. A second Bazil
location was constructed and opened on September of 2004 in Penfield
along with a new 186 slip marina facility (www.SouthpointMarina.com)
with boat access to the restaurant. In 2006 a new condominium
project was begun by the Daniele Family in Delray Beach Florida called
The Royal Atlantic (www.RoyalAtlanticCondos.com).
The condominium complex should be complete by early 2007.
In 2010, the Daniele family opened their newest concept, a casual Cape
Cod/New England style seafood restaurant call the Crab Shack. (www.CrabShackRochester.com)
The
Daniele Family thanks everyone who has ever dined in or been employed
in their restaurants for their continued support, for without you all,
there would be little success at all. Now you can also find the
Mario's Italian Pasta Sauces at your local
grocery store. Thank you, and Buon Apetito!
